These are tooth colored fillings that are bonded to the teeth to restore chipped or decayed teeth. They have a natural, tooth colored appearance. Composite bonding are bonded to the tooth internally which can restore some to the natural strength of the tooth. Composites can be slightly more expensive than amalgam fillings, depending on your insurance. However they are very popular despite the increased price.
These fillings are an amalgamation of mercury, silver and other metal alloys that make a metal colored filling. Amalgam fillings have been around a long time. These are approved by the American Dental Association, unless a person has sensitivities to metals found in the amalgamation. More and more people are requesting composite fillings due to metal allergy/sensitivities.
Dental Crowns and Bridges
Are used to restore greater damage than fillings can. Bridges can replace missing teeth. They are crowns hooked in series to adjacent teeth that surround missing teeth. Crowns are single units that cover large fillings, broken teeth, or implants. Both crowns and bridges are excellent long term restorations (with proper home care). They are typically more expensive than fillings, depending on your insurance.
Implants are used to replace single, or multiple teeth. Implants can be used to support dentures on both arches. They are typically a titanium precision screw placed in the jaw bone and allowed to integrate into the bone over time. Candidates for implants must meet proper bone density, immune system and health requirements. Implant treatment is coordinated with a board certified oral surgeon who places the implant. We do the restorative crowns, bridges or dentures after the implant is fully integrated and the patient is released by the oral surgeon to proceed with restoration. Implants are a relatively new development in restorative dentistry and requires careful consideration before proceeding. Insurance limitations and costs must be carefully considered.
Scaling and root planning
This is a procedure to arrest periodontal disease. Periodontal disease can cause early tooth lose and bad breath. Periodontal disease can be the result of calculus and plaque buildup from inadequate brushing and or flossing. Bleeding gums and or loose teeth are an early sign of the disease. Scaling and root planning is usually done under local anesthesia, laughing gas and is tolerated well. Treatment time is dependent on the severity of the disease and the healing time of the patient. More difficult cases we coordinate care with a specialist in periodontal disease.
Other services we also offer.
Extractions are removal of teeth in a painless manner that preserves the gum and bone for later restorative procedures.
